Would you like to see a black screen button.
Sometimes there are times when you need to dim the 2 screen temporarily. Just turn off and turn on the 2nd screen with one button.
Hi @alex,
Yes, actually. This feature was requested a while back and I’ve created a ticket for it: Blank screen with an image · Issue #311 · Cuperino/QPrompt-Teleprompter · GitHub
Feel free to work on it. In the description I wrote that we could display QPrompt’s logo during the blackout, but users should have the option to select their own logo, or no logo. This also doesn’t have to be a blackout, it could also be strong dimming. I’d keep it simple to start: Have the button go in and out of black and that’s it.
I support this. As simple as possible: just go to black, and at most the option to type a message. No logos needed. Generally I prefer to see all logos and art eliminated from the prompt output or made at least optional. These things do not make a professional appearance in reality.
Good point!
To play devil’s advocate, a reason not to go with black is it can make it hard to tell whether the teleprompter display is working altogether. That aside, less is better because it avoids distractions.
“Send black” is what the directors call for. Literally black out the screen. Sometimes we are hiding prompter from a reverse shot from the set or stage and they need literally nothing on the screen.
That confirms to me that we should aim towards adding this to the v2.1 release. That’s the features release after the next one, since this one already has a string freeze and a feature freeze to help with releasing.
