Hi, I’ve been playing around with the software and I have a couple questions.
Can you only open one document at a time? It seems like every time I go to create a new doc, it wants to close the doc I already have open.
When I create a new doc and save it for the first time (give it a file name, location to save) it then closes the document. Why is this? Obviously, I’ll want to save docs as I create them, but that doesn’t mean I’m done working on it. I’m just saving as I go for safety’s sake.
Presently all versions of QPrompt are limited to opening one document at a time. One inconvenient workaround to this would be to launch multiple instances of QPrompt. However, launching multiple instances of a program is only possible on Windows and Linux, but not on macOS nor Android due to limitations of those systems.
There are plans to allow opening multiple documents. A plan for opening entire folders to be specific; opening multiple documents is a pre-requirement to that. However, adding this will involve a major re-write, which is why the feature is planned for v3.0, which is very far away. I may bump it up if someone else offers to work on it before then.
This sounds like a bug and not one that I’m familiar with… If you attempted to start a new document after having started a new document and having made changes that you haven’t saved, you would be prompted with a dialog asking to Save changes to document before closing. If you proceeded to Save, your document would be saved, closed, and a blank document would proceed to be loaded, resulting in a behavior like the one you’ve experienced.
Please answer the following questions so I can best attempt to replicate your experience:
What steps did you take to start a new document and save it for the first time?
What operating system is the computer running?
What version of QPrompt are you using?
You can find the version of QPrompt by going to Main Menu > About QPrompt. Provide the full version, including the contents in parenthesis, or provide a screenshot of the “About QPrompt” page that shows said information.
Please answer to the best of your habilites as that would allow me to closely replicate your issues.
