I have installed Qprompt on Win 11 Pro desktop computer with video card and it works great. I installed Qprompt on a Win 11 pro laptop computer and the software will not open after installation. I compared the two versions from both computers and the # of files and size of program are the same. Does Qprompt work with onboard video hardware in laptop computers?
Note 2: Does Qprompt require a minimum amount of RAM?
On Windows, QPrompt depends on the Visual C++ Redistributable Runtime. Most PCs have it installed, but a clean Windows 11 install does not include it. It’s probably missing from your laptop. You can download it from here: https://aka.ms/vc14/vc_redist.x64.exe
I don’t think issue is related to the video hardware. QPrompt is confirmed to work on Nvidia, AMD, and on-board Intel GPUs on both Windows and Linux systems.
I just noticed I didn’t answer your second question. The minimum amount of RAM required to run QPrompt is 1 GB. However, 4 GB is recommended since this allows some operating systems to use window compositing techniques that consume more RAM but result in smoother animations (this is mainly applicable when running QPrompt on Raspberry Pi hardware).
Raspberry Pi 5 models with 4 GB of RAM are recommended, but QPrompt prompt run smoothly on a Raspberry Pi 3 with 1 GB of RAM if you disable every single feature and set it to full-screen. You no longer need an early access build for this. See here for steps to run smoothly on a Raspberry Pi 3.
